GLK - a combination of letters that has specific connotations. The “G” alludes to the archetypal cross-country vehicle, the “L” intimates luxury and, as in other Mercedes model series, the “K” stands for compactness (German: Kompaktheit). At first sight these three aspects may appear to be mutually incompatible. But on closer inspection they offer the perfect combination as Mercedes-Benz takes its SUV expertise and launches it in a whole new dimension - in the exciting Vision GLK FREESIDE. In January 2008 this compact character will be making its world debut at the Detroit Auto Show, providing a vision of the shape of SUVs to come.

The Vision GLK FREESIDE study, now close to series production, has a distinctive design and combines typical SUV characteristics such as robustness and off-road capability with refined motoring characteristics on “normal” roads. The AGILITY CONTROL suspension ensures excellent handling dynamics and agility, coupled with excellent ride comfort and pioneering active safety. A high-strength bodyshell forms the backbone of this model and also ensures other key characteristics: the driving stability and virtual absence of vibration and noise, whatever the conditions, are compelling, and the passive safety, as you expect from the brand, is of the highest standard. The Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class Roadsters have long captured the hearts of sports car enthusiasts. Incorporating around 650 newly developed parts, the SLK models of 2008 are even more dynamic and now offer an even more emotionally charged driving experience. Key visual enhancements include new-look front and rear sections as well as a meticulously modified interior with a new instrument cluster and three-spoke sports steering wheel. A fast-running V6 sports engine developing 224 kW/305 hp and an optionally available direct-steer system truly bring the bold, dynamic character of the two-seater SLK 350 to the fore. Furthermore, all of the engines in the line-up are now far more economical on fuel and, therefore, emit even less CO2, despite a substantial increase in output in many cases. The new-generation SLK models will be available from April 2008, pricing will be announced early in 2008.

Since their first appearance in 1997, the compact SLK Roadsters have come to symbolise Mercedes-Benz’ dynamic brand image. Already a familiar sight on our roads, the second-generation two-seater is to be further enhanced with the implementation of a raft of measures in 2008, to further emphasise the car’s sporty character and continue the SLK-Class success story by introducing new, dynamic, powerful elements. Sales of the SLK-Class Roadster are now approaching the half-million mark with over 495,000 sold, over 40,000 of which were sold in the UK. Read the rest of this entry »

Reviews :
BELEIVE THAT CAR IS GOOD BUT NT BETER , NT BEST
Pros: Good fuel economy,
Cons: Ride is too rough, Brakes sometimes clank.

THIS IS SOMETHING I DNT FEEL TO BUY IT I AM A USER OF BMW AND BENTLEY………….

I THINK BMW IS BETTER THEN MERC…………

How Good the Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG Is
Pros: Every thing
Cons: Nothing

2008-mercedes-benz-s-class11.jpg

The Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG is epic and staggering. I’ve driven a S550 before and it was so unbiliveble! So the S65 AMG is probably even more. So obviously you want one.But there are going to be a few problems with that. It obviously is the price. You see the bass price is 145 000 pounds which is pretty pricey but every penny you pay counts. If you don’t like paying for gas you might not want one. None of those problems trouble me but the could trouble you. So keep in mind that everybody has preferences, but I sure want one!!

Luxury with a twist
Pros: very comfortable, quiet, luxury to the max
Cons: fuel economy, the gas pedal is too rough and making driving very tiring.

The comfort and luxury of the car is excellent. i have had this car for a while and I enjoy the comfort of it especially in long trips. It is very quiet and the most of my friends fight about sitting in the backseat.

In stop and go trips there is a different story. The gas pedal is too rough and makes driving in stop and go very painful. I wish MBZ would do something about this problem. I use my cruise control even in the short distances since it is easier than using the gas pedal. The fuel economy is trouble. I work very close to my home and I end up spending $80/week for fuel. I guess one might think that with having a luxury car like this no one should complain about the fuel economy. My previous car SL500 was a lot more efficient but it was also not as heavy and comfortable as this one.
Absolutly the best MB yet!
Pros: I find it is the best of the 500’s I have owned. Most quiet, solid car ever. Even the gas milage.
Cons: None so far. disapointed I could not get active seats and auto side shades.

I have a Lexus 430 and we both agree this car rides and handles better. The command system is even easier to operate. Don’t have to stop to enter information. Voice command is way ahead. Heads turn when we go by.
Magnificent, Astonishing
Pros: Everything about it
Cons: Nothing

I love everything about this car. How it drives the feeling of the road, how precise the breaks are the seats with premium leather feels great, very comfortable. The navigations it has improved a lot from before and stills needs some work, but I didn

Needs a lot of work to live up to their reputation
Pros: Comfortable
Cons: Nav and electronic integration are horrible

Mercedes has struggled for years with difficult to use interfaces to their nav and electronics. The new S is NO improvement. The voice control is spotty and controls few things. Programming an address is very time consuming and requires more information than many drivers looking for an address actually have. It only allows address ‘ranges’ - you cant put in a specific address. This is a step back. I bought an Acura RL instead. They have a nav like it is supposed to be. Setting car options through the nav is also horrible. I love the look and prestige of MB, but I cant help but wonder if they cut so many corners with nav/electronics, did they do the same for the mechanics and safety systems? Since so many cars rely on electronics for most of their functions, it is not a stretch to make these comparisons. I hate to say it, but MB is starting to seem like ’70s Detroit. They are on the down side unless they make changes now.
Good luxury car that needs a longer list of extras
by Momchil Kolev from Skopje, Macedonia (9/13/07)

Pros: Confortable seats, Good acceleration, Good fuel economy, Well designed interior, Voice controled.
Cons: Rims look small, Ride is too high at sport suspension, Rear is too small, looks like a Maybach.

In my opinion, this car is a good luxury sedan with a few ticks to work out. First, the Big screen at the front should be a touch screen. The seat coolers should be stronger. There should be a sunroof above the back seats too, mainly for the business men with their own drivers. There should be atleast one regular plug for customers that do not like to be bothered with the battery life of their laptops or cell phones.

great

If you can afford this car, then Im sure you can afford the gas so stop complaining about the gas mileage…. you’re contradicting yourself! Only the people who can afford can have this car!
Good
Pros: It is 17 miles per gallon.604 Horse Power.Like nothing else.
Cons: Very good conditions.

Is Better to put more xenon light on front light.More miles per gallons.
More fun for per gallons.
